Care in Action

2025

What We Accomplished!

Thank you for making Care in Action 2025 a success. Because of your time, donations, and partnership, our community came together to meet real needs with compassion and practical help.

What we accomplished

  • 150+ care packages assembled — essentials like rice, beans, hygiene items, and translated resource materials.
  • 1,000+ lbs of food packaged and delivered to families in need.
  • 8+ community partners joined us to support logistics, outreach, and distribution.
  • 1,200+ pieces of translated materials were provided and distributed so families could access resources and services in their language.

Real impact — one family at a time

One mother told us the care package and translated resource sheet made it possible for her to enroll her children in a local clinic and understand how to request food assistance — all in her native language. Stories like hers remind us these numbers are people: parents, grandparents, students, and neighbors.

Partners who made this possible

A heartfelt thank you to our partnering organizations, volunteers, and local churches who donated space, helped translate materials, and drove distribution. Your teamwork multiplied our impact.

What’s next

The work isn’t finished. Your support today helps us reach even more families.

What We’re Doing

During Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15), Como Comunidad is leading a community-wide drive to assemble and distribute at least 250 care packages to local Hispanic and immigrant families. These packages will include culturally familiar food staples (e.g., rice, beans, coffee, Maseca, Abuelita chocolate, pasta, oil, sugar) and encouraging messages of hope.

Too many families in our Hispanic and immigrant communities are struggling quietly. Rising costs, language barriers, and fear of public systems make it hard to ask for help. These care packages are a tangible way to say ‘we care, you belong here.’ As Coretta Scott King said, ‘The greatness of a community is measured by the compassionate actions of its members, ’ and that’s exactly what we’re doing.

Every package is more than just items — it’s a reminder that no one in our community stands alone.

How it Works

This Hispanic Heritage Month, our goal is to deliver 250 care packages to families in need. With your donations and the help of local partners, we’ll meet families right where they are and remind them of one powerful truth: you are not alone.
